Is your PC operating much worse than when
you purchased it? Does it seem very slow
or sluggish? Does it just randomly
crash while you're in the middle of an application
causing you to lose all of your work?
These are very frustrating events but luckily they are
often easily cured. A damaged or corrupted Windows
Registry file can cause these symptoms. PCs that use the
Windows operating system have their configuration
information is saved in a file called the Registry.
Pertinent information about your PC and the
applications you have installed is stored there. Each
time you install or remove applications the registry
file is changed. If you have never taken the time to
maintain your registry file, it can easily become
overloaded with old snippets of information that are no
longer necessary and can actually slow down or damage
your system
Over time, unless you perform maintenance on this
file, it will grow to become a huge file with a lot of
unused and unneeded information that simply clogs up your
system. Even if you do perform an uninstall to get rid of
programs you no longer want, the installer does not
actually get rid of all of this data and leaves a lot of
leftover junk in the registry.
In this situation, your registry
file will need to be cleaned and/or repaired.
It is possible that you could do this yourself, but I
would highly advise against it unless you're really sure
about what you are doing. You could easily damaged the
registry and actually make the situation worse.
Many Registry Cleaners are available that will
clean and maintain your registry for you. After the initial
cleaning, many of them have an option that will
automatically keep your system clean and running at its
best performance.
There are many Registry cleaners available on the
market, many good ones, also many bad ones. We
reviewed most of the most popular programs and put together
a recap showing which ones actually worked the best.
